Changing the World?

Do you think you can change the world? A large number of people are talking about making change in the world and a smaller number are already putting their intentions into action and creating change, so yes I believe YOU can. What is the change you want to create in your life? How do you think you can affect the world? I believe each of us can have a direct and positive influence.

Here’s something to think about: It is the courageous of heart who choose to do what is uncommon in thought and action who will spark the shift to create a global community that lives in harmony with compassion and understanding, birthing the cradle that will sustain all life into the future and for future generations. Courage is that ‘crazy’ thing you do, no matter who’s watching, listening or commenting. You just do it anyway because it is in your heart and every cell in your body body knows it is the right thing to do. Ever had that feeling?

Recently I was asked why I do what I do in my consulting practice, Manzimvula®, as well as in the foundation, My Arms Wide Open®. I consciously work hard and to see people as just people, for their individual strengths and abilities. I embrace the people around me with compassion and understanding. Not because of of what they might be able to give or do for me, but because of what I may be able to do for them. What I mean by that is I don’t try and change them to be like me or give them anything about who I am or believe. I recognize and embrace them for who THEY are even though they may be different from me and even have different beliefs than I do. I believe that we should embrace people for who they are as an individual, as a person who can and does contribute to family and to community and learn from them as we listen with genuine interest, compassion, understanding and acceptance.

Ghandi said:” Be the change you want to be in the World”. Well, that can take on different definitions of what change might be. I think of a world that is healing and growing and understanding why each form of life is important and contributes to our overall well being. I may not be around to see the world I dream about about but what I want to do is at least be the spark that ignites a passion in people that will live in the hearts and minds of generations to come to create a world that truly sees, cares about and embraces the people in it. Idealistic? Maybe, but why not?

Manzimvula® is a values-based consulting firm whose purpose is to support organizations who choose to build socially responsible and profitable enterprises that profoundly impact their organizational communities and the individuals they affect in a compassionate and sustainable manner.

The My Arms Wide Open® Charitable Foundation, was established to provide support and collaboration with mothers, children, and youth in South Africa, enabling them to build sustainable communities and responsible businesses. With stronger families, communities emerge as a solid foundation for society. In the process they re-engage fathers to repair the family unit. In our definition, mothers include women who are caring for children and include child-led households, working within the pre-teen and teen groups. Fathers include the fathers, young males and adult males within the community.
